We're almost there!

Well, I'll keep it short and sweet: the EP is almost there!

I've worked with so many awesome people and we're finally getting it together and getting ready for the EP Release Concert Party Extravaganza.

Last week we recorded a music video for "Hardcore". It was one of the most fun days in my life and we're now working on the final edit, so I'll keep you posted when that's all finished!

April and May are full of living room concerts and some other fun festivals, so check the site to come over for one of them.

Also 3voor12 has chosen me as the artist for Utrecht Selecteert (<-- check out the first article) this month (Utrecht Selects). 3voor12 is a music website and they're following me around for the month of April, ending with a concert at 3voor12 live the 28th. You can come see us play at the dB's here in Utrecht Zuilen.

Keep you posted, thanks for all the encouragement along the way!

Halftime

So after a good week of recording for the E.P., I can finally get you updated on how things are going.

WE B GOOD! It's gonna be great, I can't wait to have that freakin' E.P. in my hands, cause I've been fairly wound up about choosing the songs, choosing the producer(s), the musicians, getting photo's taken, choosing a designer for the cover, not getting any sicker, playing shows next to all of that, etc. But I can honestly say that after a week of recording (and mental coaching from my brother and others), I'm very relieved with the results that we already have.
S*** is coming together, and I can't wait to throw that little CD at ya.

I played at "Lopend Vuur" last week which was very fun (I describe it as an online tv show where a band/artist plays 3 songs and is interviewed in between about how they get their music known). Videos and audio files will be online soon.

Besides that, I'm playing two band contest shows this week here in my hometown of Utrecht. One more living room concert next week, and then I'll be off to California for a little sun and a little celebration family reunion! I'll be probably playing just one show, so I'll keep you Americanos updated on when and where!

More to come, talk to you lataaa!

Sick Recordings

Well here I am! It's been a while, but I haven't been doing nothing. Although that's what I've felt like the last couple weeks. This because I've been sick, probably the flu or something, maybe the Mexican flu?! I don't know... All I know is I fainted in the pharmacy, ready to pick up my prescription, and that didn't work out so well. I do find it amusing to tell people cause it's such a dramatic story. (me falling on the floor, surrounded by people, them all telling me to keep my head up and breathe, somebody walked me home, etc. etc.)

Anyway that's that. I wasn't very capable of going into the studio and recording as you could understand, so I've been trying to get stuff done at home and being as productive as I could. On top of this, my brother Colin (who is the drummer of my E.P.) got harassed by a cat. Yes, a cat. This story is much much worse then my fainting disaster and he should get a fantastic citizen award of some sort because he saved a cat from drowning, who immediately decided to bite and cut both his wrists and hands open. Couldn't the cat wait till my E.P. was finished?? Poor brother. He's not even mad at the cat, I find that remarkable.

So, needless to say, no super-tight, awesome, cool and sick recordings (yet!).
We'll get there, and in the meantime I'm playing lot's of Living Room Concerts, we made the semifinals for the Clash of the Titans (band contest here in Utrecht), and always moving forward.

2011 here I am! (in English!)

I'm a little late with reviewing 2010, but I'm gonna do it real quick anyway:

2010 was the beginning of my living room concerts, lot's of shows in cafe's and clubs through all of the Netherlands, the SpieringFestival, Make More Music, 3FM, the backyard concert and Lubitsch in California, lot's of new songs, lot's of new people, Grasnapolsky Festival, Benefit Concert "do you really care?" and lot's more.

I'm hoping for even more awesomeness in 2011, and we have some cool stuff planned:
Concerts at the Red Ribbon Rock, Rode Kruis Bloesemtocht (red cross event), and a lot more Living Room Concerts.
Besides concerts I'm also busy with the preparations for my coming E.P. We're going into the studio pretty soon!

I'll keep it short and give you a link for a video at the Grasnapolsky Festival.

Thanks for all the support in 2010, I'll keep you posted!

Love,

Rachel Louise

2011 here I am!

2010 was het begin van m'n huiskamer concerten, veel concerten in cafe's door heel Nederland, Spieringfestival Muiden, Make More Music, 3FM, backyard concert en sunset blvd. in Californie, veel nieuwe nummers, veel nieuwe mensen leren kennen, Grasnapolsky festival, Benefiet Concert "do you really care?"enz. enz.

Liefs,

Rachel Louise

It's in English folks!

Hello everyone,

I've recently (as of a couple minutes ago) decided to start writing my blog in English. Why?
After a few questions and answers on twitter and facebook, I've come to my conclusion: from now on, I'm writing in English. I'm half American so I can't keep them out of the loop, plus that my Dutch readers have let me know that their English is good enough. Thanks for understanding.

Other fun info is that I'm playing lots of Shows! You can find them on my website, so keep looking for one in your neighborhood. And if there's none in your neighborhood, invite me over to come play in your living room! These next couple months we have 'em on the agenda, and more to come, but we're always looking for more living rooms to play. Let me know if you want to have a nice evening filled with music at your place. It's arranged in a second and won't cost you anything.

For my Dutch readers looking for fun places to go out to:  Dwaze Zaken in Amsterdam. I played a set there last Monday and it's an awesome place to go out to for dinner, music or a drink. I loved the interior, and the atmosphere is great. Go check it out! www.dwazezaken.nl

Ok, that's all for now. Don't hesitate to become a member of my blog!

Love,

Rachel

Fijne Hectiek

Goede dag!

Liefs,
